Generation Kill을 보고, The Man Comes Around
정말로 오랜만에 집에서 발뻗고 휴식을 취해보았다. 벌써 월요일이 왔나ㅜㅜ 싶을 정도로 시간이 너무너무 빨리 흘러갔지만 거기에는 Generation Kill을 하루만에 다 본 이유도 있을것이다. Band of Brothers를 제작한 HBO에서 동명의 (실화를 기반으로 한)소설을 바탕으로 제작한 이 드라마는 2003년 이라크 전 당시의 미 해병대 1수색대대의 침투과정을 보여주고 있다. 비록 전투장면의 비중이 매우 적었지만 Band of Brothers보다 더욱 현대적인 배경으로 제작되고 병사들의 입장을 더욱 잘 대변해 주는것 같아 개인적으로 호감이 드는 드라마였다.
계속 F*/screw up 하는 윗대가리 놈들이나 F*ing retard 땡보 놈들? 의 경우는 그런경우를 너무나 많이 봐왔기 때문에-_-;; 욕나올 정도로 동감했고, 또한 MRE에서 Charms를 보고 재수없는 거라고 하면서 나오는 소소한 유머들은 나를 즐겁게 했다. 아니 지금 Charms 무시하나여? (뽀나스로 Big gay Al 까지 나오다니.....ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ)
재미있게 보았지만 자주 언급되고, 마지막 씬에서 부각되는 "살인이 과연 정당화 될 수 있을까?"라는 답은 나를 생각에 빠지게 했다. 또한 제목에서 보듯, 미디어에서든 생활에서든 Kill이라는 단어가 너무나 당연화된 시대/사회에서 과연 그(우리)들은 어떻게 생각하고 행동하고 있나.. 에 대해 생각해 볼 만 했다. 전쟁이라는 명목으로 이루어지는, 명령에 의해 당연히 치러지는 살육행위는 과연 정당화될 수 있을까. 그리고 평화를 위한 전쟁, 과연 누구를 위한 평화인가.
이것은 마지막에 흐르는 배경음악을 통해 더욱 부각되었다. 어디선가 들어본것같은데... 하고 있다가 새벽의 저주(Dawn of the Dead)에서 들었던 것으로 판명되었다. 그때에도 꽤나 인상깊어서 알아봐야지.. 했다가 그게 오프닝에 나온거라 영화 끝나고 나니 잊어버렸던것이다-_-;;;
