Simon Dunmore는 1999년 1월에 영국의 하우스 유명레이블 Defected Records을 창립하여 20년간 이를 최고의 위치로 이끌어왔다. 또한 2014년 6월부터 파티/레이블인 Glitterbox를 만들어(레지던트들로 Dimitri from Paris, Joey Negro, John Morales, Basement Jaxx, Horse Meat Disco, Todd Terry를 포함한다.) 다양한 음반을 내고 이비자 Hï Ibiza(구 Space)에서 꾸준히 활동하고 있다. 즉, 하우스/디스코를 익히려 한다면 Simon Dunmore를 거쳐가는것이 당연한 수순인 것이다. 

그의 인스타에서 다음과 같이 밝혔듯, 이 음악들은 비록 최신은 아니더라도 현재의 클럽씬의 방향성을 보여주는 정수(Essence)가 아닐까, 하고 개인적으로 생각해본다. "The tracks represent music, labels & producers that influenced my youth and still have real relevance to everything we do at @defectedrecords today." 이번 작업과 그가 내세운 'This Ain't No Disco' 모토 (Glitterbox에서 내놓은 앨범의 타이틀이기도 하다)에서 알수있듯 그의 디스코에 대한 기반과 애정을 확인할 수 있다. 최근 우리나라에서도 복고풍이 재조명되면서 올드스쿨 디스코도 주변에서 쉽게 접할 수 있게된것 같은데 매우 반가운 흐름이라 생각한다.
